How long have you been in business? 

Elegant Dance Company was established in July of 2009 and the instructors at Elegant Dance have a combined total of over 38 years of dancing! 

What is the most popular first dance?  

The most popular first dance is the Foxtrot, simply because so many popular First Songs have the rhythm for the dance.  Foxtrot has a simple 4 beat rhythm that can be stretched for any level of experience, from beginners to professionals, and still manage to look beautiful.  Another popular dance is the Rumba, which is similar to the Foxtrot with the 4 beat rhythm, but has more of a Latin feel to it and goes well with R&B songs as well.  

Non-traditional dances, such as the Tango and the Cha-Cha, are becoming more and more popular as wedding couples are starting to step away from the traditional first songs.  Couples are starting to pick their favorite song, whether it be Luther Vandross or Def Leppard, but it's the song that represents them the best...which is why putting a choreographed dance to it makes it even better!   

What is the most difficult dance to learn? 

The top of the list for the most difficult dances to master would be the Samba, Viennese Waltz, and Argentine Tango.  These dances all require complete control of your balance and posture, and are best when the performers have a very good knowledge of dancing with changing tempos and beats.  Very difficult to master, but INCREDIBLE when accomplished!   

What is the easiest dance to learn? 

Foxtrot and Merengue are our favorite dances to teach to beginners, because they have that strong whole beat, which is easy to follow and to count.  Also, the student is able to get on the floor quicker and easier to begin dancing (and showing off a bit!)

How far in advance should couples take lessons before their wedding? 

We recommend at least 2 months preparation for dance lessons.  It's best to contact the dance studio 3 months ahead so that the couple and instructor(s) can plan the lessons accordingly and allow for additional lessons, if necessary.  This also allows the couple to join in with other group lessons or social parties to be able to practice their new moves, if interested.

Do you offer group lessons?  

Absolutely!  We even have a group series called the 3-S Series which teaches the Waltz, Foxtrot, and Tango, so it's an excellent way to learn the basics of the smooth dances.  This could make for a more affordable option for couples who are not able to take private lessons, or it can be an introductory for the private lessons, which would sharpen the moves for the choreography.  Either way, it's a fun hobby and great "de-stresser" for the couple to do together. 

We also can offer group lessons for the wedding party, including the bridal party, the parents of the couple, etc.  These lessons can be prior to the wedding, so that everyone can prepare for the event, or it can even be DURING the wedding, which provides additional entertainment for the couple, the wedding party, and all of the guests!  P.S.  DJs love to know about these kinds of plans in advance, so make sure you inform your DJ of what kind of dances will be taught during the wedding, so that they can gather up some fun songs that go with the styles to play during the wedding.

How expensive are private dance lessons? 

Just as any other wedding product out there, dance lessons can range from very low cost to the total, platinum package.  We completely understand that sometimes the cash registers can go into overtime when planning a wedding, but that the couple still wants everything to be perfect.  Our packages go from the very basic package, which would include the couple learning a simple, yet elegant and personalized dance, to a complete package, which would include the Father/Daughter dance, the Last Dance, and more.  We also offer payment options and can accept credit and debit cards.  These options also help with paying for the dance lessons.

Whatever the case is, we want to work with the couple to make the lessons affordable for them.  We also offer referral bonus lessons, which is another way to heavily lower the cost of their packages. 

The First Dance is overlooked in so many cases because couples are afraid to hear the price, but if you just contact us by calling, emailing, or even stopping by, we think you'll be pleasantly surprised with how much our instructors can work with whatever your situation may be!
